Indian tennis veteran Leander Paes along with French partner Jeremy Chardy progressed to the quarter-finals of the $514,065 Delray Beach Open being held at the Delray Beach Tennis Center here.
The Indo-French combine took just an hour and 12 minutes to beat American fourth seeds Eric Butorac and Scott Lipsky 6-4, 7-5 in the Round of 16. Paes and Chardy will next face Spanish-Australian combine of Marcel Granollers and Sam Groth for a place in the semis.
Paes and Chardy were easily the better pair, serving four aces and winning 66 of the 119 points played in the match. More importantly, though they were broken twice, the Indo-French pair exacted revenge by breaking the fourth seeds four times during the course of the match which put the contest in their favour.
