Pakistan's top foreign affairs advisor Sartaj Aziz will visit Afghanistan on Friday amid diplomatic tensions, Islamabad's foreign ministry said on Thursday.

Afghan President Ashraf Ghani halted the Pakistan-brokered peace talks with the Taliban, Xinhua news agency reported.

Kabul had reportedly postponed a meeting of the Joint Economic Commission that was scheduled to be held in Islamabad late last month.

Aziz will lead the Pakistani delegation in the Ministerial Meeting of the Sixth Regional Economic Conference on Afghanistan (RECCA-VI).

The advisor will also hold consultations with the Afghan leadership on important bilateral issues, the ministry added.
