Actress and now filmmaker Vishakha Singh, who has co-produced "Peddlers", is confident that the small-budget project would yield maximum results at the box office.
Directed by Vasan Bala, the thriller has been produced and presented by Guneet Monga-Anurag Kashyap Films Pvt Ltd (AKFPL).
It's release date is yet to be finalised and Vishakha feels that "initially the film would sell on Anurag Kashyap's name and later it would sell on word of mouth. It is a minimum investment with maximum returns".
Set in Mumbai, the film about young destitute boys trapped in the drug trade and a police officer chasing them was screened at the Cannes Critic week last year.
The actress-producer, who spent a major part of her childhood in Abu Dhabi, started her career in showbiz with television and print commercials. She graduated to movies with 2007 Telugu film "Gnaapakam" and later featured in several southern movies.
She made her Hindi film debut with "Hum Se Jahan" in 2008, but got noticed in director Ashutosh Gowarikar's "Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey".
For Vishakha, a graduate in business studies from Delhi University, safest thing was to start her journey as a producer with a small budget film.
"Production was never on the agenda. The safest way to start off was to learn on a small level. Guneet Monga was looking for funds, it made sense as it was a less investment. Also Guneet Monga is an established producer. The film has a great script, it is high content and the actors are fabulous," Vishakha told IANS.
She has also co-produced "Haramkhor" with Guneet Monga and AKFPL. Directed by Shlok Sharma, it is expected to come out some time this year.
She will take a call on further productions once the two films release.
"I would want to produce more, but I am waiting for 'Peddlers' and 'Haramkhor' to release and then I will take a call," said the actress.
As far as acting goes, she will be seen in forthcoming films "Fukrey" and "Ankur Arora Murder Case".
