Leading Hungarian software firm NNG Tuesday rolled out a personal navigator it has developed and customised with the New Delhi-based Ayana Navigation Solutions Ltd for road users across India.

"The integrated quick search option in the navigation device allows a driver to programme a destination with the help of pre-loaded maps of cities and towns across the country, including seven million points of interest (PoI)," Ayana director Amit Sharma told reporters here at a preview of the product here.

Code named A501, the five-inch device runs on NNG's iGO primo software, which has an intuitive navigation feature to search the maps and the PoI data for guiding a driver on the destination route.

"The navigator interprets a road user's behaviour and offers solutions to reduce driving speed and suggest detour in the event of a traffic jam on a highway," Sharma said.

The navigator also has a wealth of information on facilities such as the nearest petrol station or a restaurant en-route.

"The navigator also has a voice guidance to inform a driver on a highway on approaching bridges, diversions and location of bridges, monuments and even shops on the way to a specific destination," Sharma said.

Other key features of the navigator are enhanced images of junctions for turns, online traffic messages to warn a driver about congested road sections and speed limits.

"India has a diverse demography and with increased urbanisation, navigation solutions have become the need of the hour. Our device has been optimised for the country's road system to make driving stress-free and enjoyable," NNG vice-president Peter Bolesza said on the occasion.

To be priced at Rs.17,000, the GPRS-linked navigator will be formally launched in the Indian market during October through authorised dealers and distributors.

The new PND will be available in car dealerships, retail channels & aftermarket accessory stores from October 2013.

As a leading solution provider for automotive, personal and wireless navigation markets the world over, the Budapest-based NNG offers on-board 3D applications, incorporating connected features and a universal, online update portal.
