The Czech Republic's Karolina Pliskova clinched the Stuttgart Open title after defeating the US wildcard Coco Vandeweghe 7-6 (7-2), 6-4 here.
This was Pliskova's first title of 2018 and the tenth of her career, reports Efe.
The former world No. 1 needed one hour and 56 minutes to defeat Vandeweghe in the final round of the WTA event, held on clay courts on Sunday.
Pliskova, currently world No. 6, took revenge for her loss to world No. 16 Vandeweghe in their previous meeting, bringing her head-to-head record against the US player to 3-3.
Vandeweghe was denied her third career title in her fifth final-round appearance, after having knocked out world No. 1 Simona Halep of Romania in the third round.
