Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday congratulated Saina Nehwal on winning the Australian Badminton Open Superseries.
"Congratulations @NSaina (Saina Nehwal) for the stupendous victory. The entire nation is very proud of your sporting accomplishments (sic)," Modi said in a tweet on his personal Twitter account.
Nehwal won second Australian Badminton Open Super Series title in three years after overcoming Chinese Sun Yu in the women's singles final here on Sunday.
World No.8 Saina lost the first game 11-21 against the World No.12 Chinese before winning the next two games 21-14, 21-19 to clinch the championship for the second time in three years. The match lasted for an hour and 12 minutes.
