Poland-based Ekolog Pita would set up a $50 million (Rs.330 crore) plant in Karnataka to manufacture clean technology equipment, an official statement said on Thursday.

An agreement to set up the plant, a high technology equipment factory to 'Make in India' and export clean technology equipment, was signed by Ekolog director Robest Jans and state's Additional Chief Secretary Ratna Prabha.

Extending his full support to the environment friendly plant, state Industries Minister R.V. Deshpande said: "It is our duty to protect the environment and ecology."

Ekolog makes ELA reactors for wastewater treatment plants, technologies for biological and chemical phosphorus removal, de-nitrification and nitrification, separate bioreactors for wastewater treatment plant and cogeneration systems which supply electricity to power grids.

The Polish company also announced plans to establish an environmental technologies R & D centre for local engineers and students.

Karnataka is wooing global investors to set up operations in the state and its 'Invest Karnataka 2016' event is scheduled here February 3-5, 2016.
