Power crisis: Sisodia protests at Harsh Vardhan's residence

AAP leader Manish Sisodia with other party members staged a protest outside union Heath Minister and Delhi BJP chief Harsh Vardhan's residence Tuesday over acute power crisis here.

As the blistering heat has continued to wreak havoc in the national capital, the political parties are blaming one another for the crisis.

AAP leaders Sisodia, Somnath Bharti and other party members went to meet Vardhan at his residence. However, the minister had left by the time when AAP members reached his house.

Sisodia told reporters his party members were not at Vardhan's residence to protest, but to remind him that he has a responsibility towards people of Delhi.

He also claimed that when Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) was in power, Delhiites had 24-hour electricity and that too at a subsidised rate.

Sisodia said: "When we could have supplied the power in the same transmissions, why can't the BJP."

He said: "We had come to remind him that his government is running Delhi as his government is at the Centre. There is a power crisis for the past 15 days and Delhi had never seen such a situation. We have requested him to look into the situation."

He added Harsh Vardhan's staff said that the minister will try to meet them Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Harsh Vardhan hit out at the AAP members saying when the party was in power for 49 days, "the party did nothing other than staging protests".

The minister also blamed the Congress for the present power crisis. The party ruled Delhi for 15 years and did nothing to improve the transmission and distribution of electricity, he said.
