President condoles Munde's demise

President Pranab Mukherjee Tuesday expressed shock, grief and sorrow over the demise of Union Minister Gopinath Munde and said his passing away is a huge loss for the people of Maharashtra and India.

"His (Munde) passing away is a huge loss for the people of Maharashtra and India," Mukherjee said, expressing heartfelt condolences.

"In his death, we have lost a veteran leader who always worked for the common man," Mukherjee added.

Munde, 64, the union minister for rural development, died following a car accident here Tuesday morning while he was on his way to the airport here in his Maruti Suzuki SX4 car. His vehicle was hit by a Tata Indica at Aurobindo Chowk around 6.20 a.m.
