President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday greeted the nation on the occasion of Milad-un-Nabi, which is celebrated as the birthday of Prophet Mohammed.
"Heartiest greetings and best wishes to all my fellow countrymen in India and abroad on Milad-un-Nabi," Mukherjee tweeted.
"May Holy Prophet's message inspire us to work towards universal brotherhood, compassion, tolerance and well-being of all," the President said in a series of tweets.
"Let us on this day recall the life and ideals of Hazrat Mohammed Saheb and re-dedicate ourselves to the service of humanity," he said.
Modi tweeted: "Greetings on Milad-un-Nabi. May this occasion deepen the spirit of harmony and unity in our society, and may there always be peace and prosperity."
