With Amethi set to vote in a week from now, Congress star campaigner Priyanka Gandhi Wednesday continued to campaign for Congress vice president and her brother Rahul Gandhi.
With Rahul Gandhi facing the heat from BJP's Smriti Irani and AAP's Kumar Vishwas, Priyanka Gandhi told election meetings that her family had abiding links with the Amethi Lok Sabha constituency.
"Rahul understands that people are the final arbiter. I know he sincerely works for you," she said.
Without taking names, she added: "Different candidates come to your area, different types of campaigning takes place and a lot of criticism takes place.
"They (rival candidates) come here because it is Rahul's constituency and not to work (for you)," Priyanka Gandhi added.
Wednesday was the second straight day of Priyanka Gandhi's campaigning in Amethi, from where Rahul Gandhi has been elected to the Lok Sabha twice. He is seeking a re-election. Amethi votes May 7.
Aam Aadmi Party's candidate, Kumar Vishwas, has been furiously campaigning against Rahul Gandhi for several weeks. The BJP has fielded Smriti Irani, a popular actor-turned-politician, in Amethi.
Priyanka Gandhi insisted that no other party would be able to bring about development in Amethi as none of them will come to power nationally or even in Uttar Pradesh.
"The other candidates who come here have no capacity to bring about development. If someone else were to win from here, they can just use Rs.5 crore from the MP fund...
"With that money, they can only build five kilometres of roads at one time."
