Moscow, Nov 19 (IANS/EFE) Pro-Russia separatist leader Igor Plotnitski Wednesday challenged Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko to a duel to resolve the conflict in eastern Ukraine.
"The winner of the duel will dictate to the other his conditions," the separatist leader wrote in an open letter to Poroshenko, the Interfax news agency reported.
In the letter, Plotnitski leaves to Poroshenko the choice of weapons and where the duel would take place.
Plotnistki urged Poroshenko to show that he was willing to shed blood to defend his people.
"I am not opposed to broadcasting the duel on television," said the challenger, who also proposed the presence of 10 journalists on each side to ensure that the contest obeyed the rules of honour.
The pro-Russia leader said he was confident he would win, but expressed doubt that Poroshenko would accept the challenge.
