On a day when President Pranab Mukherjee held a 'high tea' reception for veterans of 1965 India-Pakistan war, the ex-servicemen protesting over the government's 'One Rank One Pension' scheme felicitated the war veterans at a parallel event.
Many of the veterans present at the event held at Jantar Mantar boycotted the function at Rashtrapati Bhawan.
"There were several who boycotted the Rashtrapati Bhawan function and attended the one here," Col. Anil Kaul (retd.) told IANS.
A veteran of the 1965 and 1971 wars, Wing Commander Vinod Nebb (retd.) skipped the function at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
"Government is yet to give us real OROP, so we boycotted the government function," he said.
Col. Kaul said over 150 veterans were felicitated at Jantar Mantar.
