French football giants Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi said Wednesday that his team hopes to at least reach the Champions League semifinals this season.

The Ligue 1 champions, who were beaten by English Premierships' Chelsea last season in the quarterfinals, are seeing off their third campaign for the European premier competitions after two straight years ending up among the last-eight, reports Xinhua.

"I was very disappointed last year after our quarterfinal elimination against Chelsea," said the Qatari. "The objective is very clear: we want to go further. That means the semi-finals at least. But the draw isn't easy, despite what everyone thinks."

The Laurent Blanc's side earned a tougher draw than last season after being lined up with Barcelona, Ajax and APOEL Nicosia in Group F.

"It's the third year that we're in the Champions League. We need time and experience. Real took 12 years to win it again. Chelsea, ten. But all the players want to win the Champions League and our ambition is really big, and I believe in it," said Al-Khelaifi.
