Infrastructure conglomerate Punj Lloyd Group on Wednesday announced its entry into India's power transmission and distribution (T&D) sector, winning two orders for rural electrification.
"Awarded by the Power Grid Corporation of India, both the T&D orders are for the rural electrification of districts in Odisha - Jajpur, Khorda and Ganjam - under the Rajiv Gandhi Gramin Vidyutikaran Yojna - 12th Plan," a Punj Lloyd statement here said.
The energy infrastructure and engineering major also said it has received the first power project from state-run BHEL for the civil, structural and architectural work of the non-plant works and the raw water reservoir, roads and drains at the 800 MW Kothagudem thermal power project in Telangana's Khammam district.
The various projects are worth Rs.488 crore, the company said.
"The group's order backlog stands at Rs.21,466 crore. The order backlog is the value of unexecuted orders on June 30, 2015, plus new orders received after that date," the statement added.
The Punj Lloyd stock opened on Wednesday at Rs.25.70 a share and was up 5.77 percent in trading at 12.59 p.m. at Rs.26.60.
