The Indian division of multinational professional services network PwC on Monday said it has opened a subsidiary in the Bangladesh capital as a step to increase its global footprint.
Banker and economic analyst Mamun Rashid will be partner in-charge of PwC in Dhaka.
In a statement, the company said, PwC has been operating in the south Asian country for many years and setting up of this subsidiary in Dhaka is in line with the rising importance of Bangladesh in a global business scenario.
"We believe that Bangladesh is on a growth trajectory and we look forward to be a part of this momentum by increasing our ground presence to offer our global expertise and deliver quality services suited to meet the local requirements," said Deepak Kapoor, chairman of PwC India and PwC Bangladesh.
The company will recruit from local educational institutions and also work with professional organisations to develop talent in the country.
"With Mamun's extensive experience, we are confident that PwC would be able to build a high performing team of professionals who will meet expectations of all our clients by offering them the right solution for their business challenges," he said.
