The Railways on Tuesday suspended five engineers and transferred the Divisional Rail Manager of Jhansi division following the Kanpur train disaster that left 149 people dead.
The Divisional Rail Manager, S.K. Agarwal, was transferred to Ranchi division, railway spokesperson Anil Kumar Saxena told IANS.
The suspended officials are Navaid Talib, M.K. Mishra, Ishwar Das, Sushil Kumar Gupta and Ambika Prasad Ojha.
At least 149 people were killed when 14 coaches of the Indore-Patna Express derailed near Pukhrayan station, 60 km from Kanpur, before dawn on Sunday.
