French Open tennis matches were suspended on Monday due to persistent rains here on Monday, the tournament organisers said.

The last 16 knockout matches scheduled for Monday were delayed until Tuesday, weather permitting, organisers added.

Monday's matches included four games in the last 16 knockouts between men and another four matches between women, in addition to clashes suspended since Saturday because of rain.

Among these matches it was scheduled that Spanish Roberto Bautista would play against Serbian Novak Djokovic, the World No.1.
