Actor Sivakarthikeyan's Tamil comedy "Rajini Murugan", which released after months of delay on Makar Sankranti last week, has emerged as the industry's first blockbuster of the year.
"In the opening weekend, the film raked in over Rs.20 crore worldwide. It's the biggest opening for the Sivakarthikeyan in his career so far. Despite the onslaught of the three other big releases, 'Rajini Murugan' emerged successful," trade analyst Trinath told IANS.
Directed by Ponram, the film also stars Keerthy Suresh, Soori and Rajkiran in important roles.
Despite mixed reviews, "Rajini Murugan" was lapped up by the masses.
"The film has registered fantastic opening everywhere, especially in B and C centres. It has worked extremely well with the masses and family audiences," Trinath said.
