Nigel Adkins has been fired as Reading's manager after a disappointing 1-6 defeat in the Championship.
The Royals lost seven of their last 11 Championship games and stayed in 16th position of the league, reported Xinhua.
"Following this weekend's 1-6 defeat at Birmingham, the board feel that a change in manager is necessary, with the club 16th in the Championship," a statement on Reading's website said.
"The club met with Nigel in person today and we would like to place on permanent record our thanks to him for his hard work and diligence since his appointment in March 2013."
Adkins, who was appointed to reading's coach in March 2013, failed to lead the Royals to get a position of the play-offs on the final day of the campaign.
