A five-member BJP central team will Saturday visit West Bengal to probe attacks on party activists allegedly by the ruling Trinamool Congress and submit a report to party president and Home Minister Rajnath Singh.

The team, comprising party vice presidents S.S. Ahluwalia and Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and state co-in charge Siddharth Nath Singh, among others, will visit Sandeshkhali in North 24 Parganas district where 26 of the party activists were injured after being attacked by "Trinamool goons".

"Wary of BJP's performance in the Lok Sabha polls, the Trinamool unleashed a series of attacks on our activists and supporters across the state. The team will visit Sandeshkhali and submit a report to the party president and home minister for future course of action," state BJP president Rahul Sinha said here Friday.

"The central team will also hold a meeting with chief secretary at the state secretariat before departing for New Delhi," added Sinha.

Concerned over the growing attacks on its party workers in Bengal, Bharatiya Janata Party general secretary Jagat Prakash Nadda Thursday named the five-member team that will arrive in Kolkata Saturday morning.

Sinha said the state unit of the party will also send fact-finding teams to Durgapur in Burdwan district and Gosaba in South 24 Parganas where its activists have been attacked.

Bollywood singer and newly-elected BJP MP from Asansol Babul Supriyo, also a member of the team, accused the police of being "hand in glove with Trinamool goons".
