Filmmaker Robert Schwentke will not direct the upcoming fourth and final instalment of science fiction action film franchise "Divergent", starring actress Shailene Woodley in the lead.
Schwentke directed the the second and third film in the franchise.
The news comes two months after Lionsgate Entertainment decided to move the fourth film - "The Divergent Series: Ascendant" back from March 24, 2017 to June 9, 2017, reports variety.com.
The third film in the franchise, "The Divergent Series: Allegiant" is scheduled to release on March 18.
Lionsgate had no comment on Schwentke's departure. A source close to the production said that the director, who is based here, felt that he needed a break.
