Fifa Ballon D'Or award holder Cristiano Ronaldo has been named the best player in Portugal's 100-year football history.
The Portuguese Federation announced the Real Madrid striker as their best ever in the Gala Quinas de Ouro ceremony Wednesday.
The ceremony was held as part of the commemorations of the 100th anniversary of the Portuguese Football Federation, reports marca.com.
The Real Madrid star, who wasn't present at the ceremony because of commitments for his Spanish club, managed to beat legends Luis Figo and Eusebio in the voting conducted for the award.
Both FIFA president Joseph Blatter and UEFA president Michel Blatter were present in the ceremony.
Ronaldo has scored 52 goals in 118 appearances for his national team whereas Eusebio netted 41 in 64 appearances and Figo managed 32 in 127 matches.
