Actress Rosamund Pike is in talks to play the female lead opposite actor Christian Bale in upcoming film "The Deep Blue Good-by".
Written by John D. MacDonald in 1964, "The Deep Blue Good-by" is a film adaptation of the first of 21 novels by the author, reports variety.com.
Bale will play the role of Travis McGee, a salvage consultant who recovers others' property for a fee and along the way gets into trouble fighting bad guys and wooing women. However, Pike's role hasn't been disclosed yet.
Directed by James Mangold, the film's script is written by Dennis Lehane, with Scott Frank working on the most recent draft.
Shooting and release dates of the film are yet to be finalised.
