German Nico Rosberg, current leader of the Formula One World Championship, extended his relationship with the Mercedes team until 2018 after renewing his contract for two more seasons.
The German driver, 31, announced through social networks the news about extending his contract with the Mercedes team on Friday, reports Efe.
Rosberg, who currently holds a single-point lead over his team-mate Lewis Hamilton, shared with his followers a video of the signing of the new contract with Toto Wolff, CEO of Mercedes.
The team also confirmed through its Twitter account that the new contract is "signed, sealed and delivered."
The German has won 19 Grand Prix races and attained the fastest time in a qualifying session on 25 occasions during his time with Mercedes.
