A second half equaliser from South Korean forward Seong-Yong Kim saved the day for Royal Wahingdoh as they drew 1-1 against Mumbai FC at the Nehru Stadium here on Sunday.
The visitors opened the scoring as Josimar da Silva Martins scored the goal for Mumbai FC in the 23rd minute.
With the draw, Mumbai FC are now placed at eighth position in the standings with 16 points from 16 games whereas Royal Wahingdoh are third with 27 points from 17 games.
Mumbai FC made two changes for the match, bringing in Collin Abranches and Reisangmi Vashum for Climax Lawrence and Abhishek Yadav, respectively.
Royal Wahingdoh also made a couple of changes. Goalkeeper Nikhil Bernard was replaced by Prem Singh while Kim Seong-Yong came in for Seityasen Singh.
The start was not that impressive for both teams, but fortunes turned Mumbai's way as, from a throw-in sent into the box, Josimar thumped the ball home with ease as Wahingdoh defenders failed to judge the flight of the ball.
But the home side didn't leave it for the last. Four minutes into the second half saw Wahingdoh getting the equaliser through Kim.
Thereafter, the home side pressed hard for the winning goal but couple of good tackles by Mumbai defenders kept the final score at 1-1.
