The second 660 MW unit of the 3,960 MW Sasan Ultra Mega Power Project (UMPP) has started power generation, operator Reliance Power said Friday
The company said in a statement that the unit has started power generation in the shortest time from boiler light up of about a month, made possible by adopting innovative commissioning methods.
The remaining four units are in advanced stages of construction and will be commissioned over the next few months, it added.
Reliance Power generation capacity, with this unit, has increased to 3,205 MW.
Sasan UMPP in Madhya Pradesh is the world's largest integrated power plant and coal mining project, the statement said.
Sasan, is the second UMPP to go online, after the full operationalisation of Tata Power's plant in Mundra.
