All five suspects related to the murder of Russian opposition politician Boris Nemtsov will continue to be held in custody, a court in Moscow said on Sunday.

According to Moscow's Basmanny district court, Shagid Gubashev's term of detention will last until May 7, 2015, while Ramzat Bakhayev and Tamerlan Eskerkhanov will be kept in custody until May 8, 2015.

Meanwhile, the court extended the detention of both Anzor Gubashev and Zaur Dadayev until April 28, 2015.

Dadayev has confessed his involvement in the murder while Anzor Gubashev denied any role in Nemtsov's death, TASS news agency reported.

Earlier in the day, the Russian Investigative Committee applied to the court for the arrest of the five suspects.

Nemtsov, former Russian deputy prime minister and an outspoken critic of President Vladimir Putin, was shot dead at about midnight on February 27 near the Kremlin when he was strolling with Anna Duritskaya, a Ukrainian model.

As a key witness, Duritskaya, who returned to Kiev last Monday, might be summoned back to Moscow for further investigation, according to her lawyer.

Putin promised earlier to do everything to bring to justice those responsible for the death of Nemtsov.
