Ace designers like Sabyasachi Mukherjee, Rohit Bal, Rohit Gandhi & Rahul Khanna, and Rajesh Pratap Singh will be among those showcasing their collection as part of Make in India Week in Mumbai on February 14.

In keeping with the Government of India's initiative to showcase the prowess of the country's robust manufacturing sector, the Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion, of the union Ministry of Commerce and Industry, in collaboration with the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) will host "Weaves of Banaras" as part of the Make in India Week.

It will be held at the ITC Grand Central.

Other designers who will be part of the fashion show are Namrata Joshipura, JJ Valaya, Ashish Soni, Arjun Saluja, Anju Modi, Anita Dongre, Abraham & Thakore and Abhishek Gupta.

Designers will incorporate Banaras in their style repertoire, braided with the woven wonders that the holy city is known for. The mavericks will draw inspiration from the vast world of textiles.

Conceptualised and executed by the FDCI, the show will celebrate the crafts of Banaras, its luxurious weaves and the vivacious skills of the weavers, hoping to give viewers a phenomenal experience.

"We are glad to announce the impressive list of 12 designers for 'Weaves of Banaras' who will narrate a story through the use of ingenious silhouettes which bring alive echoes of the past while giving it a modern twist.

"Our designers understand the lexicon of crafts which is why they are able to incorporate their seamless beauty in their design's architecture," said Sunil Sethi, FDCI president.
