The Samajwadi Party, which on Thursday quit the Janata Parivar to announce it will contest the Bihar polls on its own, may form a third front with like-minded parties, a senior party leader said.
Samajwadi Party's Bihar unit president Ramchander Singh Yadav said over telephone that within 3-4 days, his party will reveal the formation of a front with like-minded parties to contest the assembly polls.
"One thing is certain, the Samajwadi Party will lead other parties," he said.
Sources said the Nationalist Congress Party and Pappu Yadav's Jan Adhikar Manch may also be part of the third front.
However, Samajwadi Party is not known to have a strong social support base in Bihar.
"Till date, Samajwadi Party has not proved its strength and presence," political observer Mahender Yadav said.
He said the Samajwadi Party's main rival Bahujan Samaj Party enjoys better support in some districts of Bihar. The party had won a few assembly seats in previous polls.
