Scotland did not create enough pressure: Coetzer

Despite opener Kyle Coetzer's brilliant knock of 156, Scotland ended up on the losing side as Bangladesh defeated the non-Test playing team by six wickets in a World Cup Pool A game at the Saxton Oval here on Thursday.

Man-of-the-match Coetzer rued having not been able to create enough pressure in the end to bowl out Bangladesh, who chased down Scotland's total of 318/8 with 11 balls to spare.

"Not the way we would have liked to end the game. We just weren't able to create enough pressure in the end. We would have taken that score at the start of the day but we just didn't create the pressure in the second innings," said Coetzer.

Coetzer credited the opposition batsmen who performed as a unit to achieve the second highest successful chase in World Cup history.

"There were a couple of run-out chances but they did bat well in the end. It is nice to get a few runs but at the end of the day it is the end result, so it is disappointing," said the 30-year-old.

"It is a tough loss to take. The guys will be a bit distraught as we worked so hard and feel we do deserve that one win in the tournament."

Scotland have now lost all their four matches in the World Cup and next take on Sri Lanka at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart on March 11.
