Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J.Jayalalithaa has requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take action to secure the release of Indian fishermen and their boats from the Sri Lankan custody.
In a letter to Modi on April 28, the text of which was released to the media here on Saturday, Jayalalithaa said 21 fishermen in three traditional fishing boats from Tamil Nadu ahve been apprehended by the Sri Lankan Navy on April 27.
"May I request you to take immediate action to secure the release of 34 fishermen from Tamil Nadu and 88 fishing boats, including the 21 fishermen and 3 traditional fishing boats apprehended on April 27?" she said.
