In a first such announcement after the government launched the "Make in India" campaign, German chemicals giant Seitz's Indian arm Friday launched its first consumer retail venture of products the company recently begun manufacturing in India.

"Seitz India announces the launch of its first consumer retail venture in more than 125 years of operations under the brand name 'Eins'," the company said in a release here.

The products based on formulations developed by Seitz are being manifactured in a World-class facility following strictest German quality standards, it added.

Seitz India, a joint venture of Seitz GmbH and Simran Technologies, India, has set up a plant at Gurgaon, NCR, with a capacity to produce 20 tons of powder and chemicals each on daily basis.

"Eins features a range of cleaning products for Indian households which are preferred for use by the World's finest professionals like 5-star hotels, dry cleaners and institutional buyers like Frankfurt Airport," Seitz said.

The product range includes powder and liquid detergents, fabric softener, stain removers as well as floor, glass and toilet cleaners.

Being already in a distribution partnership in with Simran was a prime mover for this over a century old firm to choose India as location for its first manufacturing and retail operations outside Germany, company chairman Alexander Seitz told IANS here.

"There is the changing scenario in India with a growing market for cleaning products coupled with the government's encouraging of foreign investment," he said.

"Besides, with the high import duties in India, manufacturing here makes us more competitive. We want to make India the hub to export to markets in the region be it South Asia or even the Gulf and Middle East regions," Seitz added.

"Not only will unrivalled quality products be available to Indian households with this venture, but industrial clients will now get consequent price benefit," said Sandeep Sood, chairman Simran Technologies.
