A senior citizen, who was standing in queue to get his entry pass made for the Delhi High Court, died of heart attack on Thursday morning.

Suresh Nayyar, 68, collapsed while standing in queue and was declared dead by doctors at the RML Hospital where he was taken.

Advocate Ashok Aggarwal said the incident took place at around 10.15 a.m. when Nayyar was in the queue for his entry pass to attend a property dispute case, and that quick medical attention from the High Court dispensary could have saved his life.

Delhi High Court Bar Association (DHCBA) secretary Abhijat termed the incident "unfortunate" and said the police officials could have taken the man to the High Court's dispensary, which is run by the Delhi government, to give him immediate medical attention.

"The bar association will on its own and also with the high court administration put up boards informing litigants at large that emergency medical facilities are available in the High Court," he said.

"It is surprising that the police authorities did not show presence of mind to take the suffering person to the high court medical facilities. Whenever such an incident has occurred in the past, immediate medical attention has been provided. It is certainly a wakeup call and I am sure that the High Court administration will act with alacrity," he said.
