A suspected separatist guerrilla was apprehended on Tuesday after he stabbed a police constable and tried to snatch his service rifle in Kashmir Valley's Anantnag district.
"A person namely Tariq Ahmad Bhat, who belongs to Khudwani area of south Kashmir's Kulgam district, stabbed a police constable of Railway Protection Force and tried to snatch his weapon," a senior police officer told IANS here.
The incident occurred at Wanpoh town, 60 km south of Srinagar.
Weapon snatching incidents by sepratist guerrillas in recent past have increased indicating a shift in recruiting tactics by militants in the state.
