Serbia remain atop Group 4 in the League C of the UEFA Nations League after beating group runners-up Montenegro 2-1 here.
The home team started in attacking style in front of some 15,000 fans at the Rajko Mitic stadium on Saturday, reports Xinhua news agency..
However visiting Montenegro were the first team to make the first attempt on goal (19th minute) when Stefan Mugosa sent a strong precise shot, which was denied by home goalkeeper Predrag Rajkovic.
Serbia scored its first goal after a counterattack in the 30th minute, when Dusan Tadic sent a pass to Adem Ljajic who beat Petkovic without difficulty.
Two minutes later, Aleksandar Mitrovic received the pass from Aleksandar Kolarov and shook the net of Montenegro's goalkeeper once again for 2-0.
Montenegrin team improved its pace in the second half and started attacking Serbia's part of the field, Mugosa in 70th minute scored on assist by Nebojsa Kosovic.
Serbia now have 11 points from three wins in Group 4 and are a step away from promotion to Group B while Montenegro stand second with seven points.
Both teams will play their final group match on November 20 at home as Serbia face Lithuania, and Montenegro take on Romania.
