Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) party has nominated Mamnoon Hussain as its presidential candidate for the next month's election, Geo News reported Tuesday.

Hussain, who earlier served as the governor of Sindh province for six months, said he would personally submit his nomination papers Wednesday.

Members of the national and provincial assemblies along with senators will elect the new president Aug 6, 2013.

The Pakistan Peoples' Party (PPP) of Asif Ali Zardari, the current president of Pakistan, has named Senator Raza Rabbani as its candidate. He would be supported by the Awami National Party (ANP).

Cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) also has named its own candidate for the presidential poll in Justice (retd.) Wajiuddin Ahmed.
