Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said his country is committed to enhancing peace and stability in the region, particularly in Afghanistan.

Sharif was speaking to Anders Fogh Rasmussen, secretary general of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO), on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York, the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) reported Friday.

He underlined his government's full support to an Afghan-led and Afghan-owned peace process in the shared goal of a comprehensive reconciliation.

The NATO secretary general said cooperation between Pakistan and the NATO would continue to achieve the shared objective of peace and stability in Afghanistan.
