President Pranab Mukherjee's daughter Sharmistha Mukherjee, the Congress candidate from Greater Kailash constituency, managed just 6,102 votes, far behind the victorious AAP candidate Saurabh Bharadwaj and the BJP's Rakesh Gullaiya.

While Bharadwaj got 57,589 votes, Gullaiya got 43,006.

Sharmistha Mukherjee joined the Congress last year. An accomplished Kathak dancer, she lives in Greater Kailash and had met members of residents' welfare organisations and campaigned actively for the polls.

Some members of the West Bengal Congress came to Delhi to campaign for Sharmistha Mukherjee towards the end of the campaign. Deepa Dasmunshi and Manas Bhuniya were seen in Bengali-predominant Chittaranjan Park during the campaign.

Sharmistha Mukherjee had been banking on the 20,000-odd Bengali voters in the constituency, mostly in Chittaranjan Park and also in Chirag Dilli and Kalkaji areas. But it appears the Bengali votes did not come her way.
