The CBI raids on Tuesday at the office of the principal secretary to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal have evoked sharp reactions from political leaders with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee terming it "unprecedented".
"Sealing of a chief minister's office is unprecedented. I am shocked," Banerjee tweeted.
Senior Congress leader and former minister Kamal Nath said the CBI action was against the federal set-up of the country.
"This very much goes against the spirit of federalism," he told reporters outside Parliament House.
Ahmed Patel of the Congress said the NDA government was threatening the non-NDA leaders.
"They have only one agenda - use every instrument of state power to threaten and silence non-NDA leaders. Pattern is evident now," Patel tweeted.
JD(U) chief Sharad Yadav expressed reservations about the CBI conducting raids at the Delhi Secretariat.
"They should have informed the chief minister (Arvind Kejriwal) about their action. They should have taken him into confidence," he told reporters outside Parliament House.
Kejriwal used very strong language in his response to the CBI action, calling Prime Minister Narendra Modi "a coward and a psychopath" and terming the situation an "undeclared emergency".
