Former Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit will be the new governor of Kerala, the presidential office announced Wednesday.
A Rashtrapati Bhavan communique said Dikshit will succeed Nikhil Kumar, whose resignation President Pranab Mukherjee has accepted "with immediate effect".
It said Karnataka Governor H.R. Bhardwaj would also look after Kerala "until (the) new governor takes charge".
The communique said B.L. Joshi will the governor of Uttar Pradesh "for a second term with effect from the date" he assumes charge.
