Singapore Airlines has ordered 30 Airbus and 30 Boeing aircraft, with the total order worth more than $17 billion, the company said Thursday.

The company said the agreement with Airbus includes 30 firm-ordered A350-900 planes for delivery from the 2016-17 financial year, and plus options for 20 more, which may be "converted into firm orders for larger A350-1000s", Xinhua reported.

The company said the latest order also increased the number of firm orders to 70 for A350-900s, which are intended for use on medium and long-range routes.

The deal with Boeing comprises 30 firm-ordered B787-10X planes for delivery from the 2018-19 financial year.

"It is conditional upon Boeing formally launching the B787-10X programme," the company said in a statement.
