The army said Friday it foiled a terrorist infiltration bid on the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir and one soldier was injured -- but not in Pakistani firing.
Earlier reports had said the Pakistan Army fired at Indian positions on the LoC injuring a soldier from the 3 Naga regiment.
A defence ministry statement later said: "Alert troops foiled an infiltration attempt in Pallanwala sector when, taking advantage of bad weather, terrorists tried to infiltrate (into Indian territory)."
The statement said that in the ensuing firefight, one soldier was injured and he was now in a stable condition.
It said the area was cordoned off and combing operations were on.
Indian authorities say that militants trained and armed in Pakistan sneak into Jammu and Kashmir, often under the cover of Pakistani firing.
