Special fund for Andhra tribal areas

The central government has released Rs.180 crore to bridge the infrastructure gap in the tribal areas of Andhra Pradesh.

The money has been released under the special area programme grants of the tribal affairs ministry.

The amount is meant to be utilised to bridge the gaps in infrastructure in critical tribal areas, an official release Wednesday said.

It includes construction of roads, bridges and creating education, health, irrigation and drinking water facilities.

It will also be used for building residential schools for tribal children, providing laboratories, furniture, sports infrastructure and implementation of the Forest Rights Act, 2006.
