Indian shuttlers Kidambi Srikanth, Ajay Jayaram and H.S Prannoy advanced into the second round after defeating their respective opponents in the men's singles competition of the Japan Open here on Wednesday.
Srikanth, who reached the quarter-finals at the Rio Olympics defeated his compatriot Parupalli Kashyap 14-21, 21-14, 23-21 in a contest which lasted over 50 minutes.
Shuttler Jayaram defeated Indonesia's Sony Dwi Kuncoro 21-19, 23-21 in a 46-minute match while Prannoy defeated Malaysia's Iskandar Zulkarnain Zainuddin 23-21, 19-21, 21-18.
Jayaram will now face Srikanth, while Prannoy will face the winner of the match between Hong Kong's Wong Wing Ki Vincent and Denmark's Viktor Axelsen.
