World No.53 Pawar overcame a strong challenge from World No.87 Daren Liew. The Indian won 13-21, 22-20, 21-16 in 57 minutes against the Malaysian.
World No.36 Sai Praneeth registered a 21-11, 21-13 win over Malaysian Beryno Jiann Tze Wong in 23 minutes.
