"Star Wars Episode VIII", the upcoming eighth movie in the "Star Wars" franchise, has been locked for release on May 26, 2017, Walt Disney Studios has announced.
Rian Johnson has also been confirmed to write and direct the film, reports variety.com.
The studio also revealed at their annual shareholders meeting in San Francisco on Thursday that Gareth Edwards' upcoming standalone film, starring Felicity Jones, will be called "Rogue One". Its shooting will begin in London this summer and it will release on December 16, 2016.
