Former Australian pacer Brett Lee believes fast bowler and countryman Mitchell Starc can prove to be a menace for the opposition batsmen in any sort of condition or strip.

Lee admitted he was concerned with how the Sydney wicket would behave in the semi-final clash against India on Thursday but added that it was not enough to stop super-Starc's arsenal of fast-paced yorkers.

With 18 wickets from just six encounters, Starc has been brilliant with the leather so far in the mega event. He has a mind-blowing average of 9.7.

"The way Mitchell Starc has been bowling with the brand new ball, most of the work is done through the air and also with his pace," Lee was quoted as saying by news.com.au.

"If he's bowling massive yorkers with a brand new ball, it doesn't matter what surface you're playing on because the ball only hits the wicket on the crease line."

The two-time world cup winner also emphasized that it was unnecessary to worry about the strip where one is supposed to bowl.

"There's been many times where I used to go look at the wicket and you get excited or you think it's going to be tough work, and straightaway you're either on the front or back foot.

"The key most importantly is to not worry about the wicket," he said.
