Sydney Sixers captain Moises Henriques was Friday handed a one-match suspension after being penalised for his side's slow over rate in Wednesday's KFC T20 Big Bash League (BBL) final against Perth Scorchers.

Cricket Australia (CA) said the Sixers were one over behind the required rate during their last-ball loss at Manuka Oval Wednesday and given it was the second time the Sixers have been penalised for a slow over rate this season, Henriques has been banned for the opening match of the next BBL, reports cricket.com.au.

However, the all-rounder will be eligible to play for Sixers during this year's Champions League Twenty20 in India.

While Cricket New South Wales CEO Andrew Jones indicated that the Sixers will appeal against the decision. They have until Feb 11 to appeal the suspension.
