The central government on Sunday said it would take all possible steps to avoid repetition of the SAI Water Sports Centre tragedy in Kerala where four girls attempted suicide by consuming a poisonous fruit earlier this month.
One of the girls - Aparna - died later.
"The inquiry is still on. We're taking all possible measures so that there's no repeat of this type of a tragedy in any part of the SAI centre or country," union Minister of state for Sports Sarbananda Sonowal said here.
The four young girl athletes in Vembanad had on May 6 consumed some poisonous fruit on being reprimanded by the water sports centre authorities for consuming beer. Aparna passed away on May 7.
